What Does It Mean to Put the User at the Center of Your Process?

Last week I lead a UX design workshop with the University of Georgia’s Graphic Design Program. We explored what it means to apply UX methods to understand user needs and then scope a problem based upon those needs. The materials that I used in this workshop are below. Feel free to use them in your classes (just credit their source, please). Note this is designed as a 3 hour workshop, although it could be developed into a larger project that expands over several classes.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions about implementing it. I recommend Universal Methods of Design: 100 Ways to Research Complex Problems, Develop Innovative Ideas, and Design Effective Solutions by Bruce Hanington and Bella Martin as a nice introductory text to design methods.
